SPECIALTY CARE
It was so helpful to actually go through the process of applying and wearing the CGM and using the app, I had no idea exactly what patients were going through. I also learned a lot about how quickly my blood sugar goes up and down in response to certain foods, and how sugar crashes were impacting my mood/functional status as well!
I shouldn't eat so much pasta! Very interesting and easy to use, but also got a little irritating (physically and emotionally) towards the end of the 2 weeks.
It was a very interesting and enlightening experience. I was surprised that even though I don't have diabetes, my blood sugar fluctuated quite a bit more than I expected.
The automatic alarm settings. The first night I wore the device, the alarm was going off constantly that I was low. This taught me the frustrations of our diabetes patients experiences with low and high blood pressure reading alarms. I can see why they finally just start ignoring them altogether.
It will 100% support me in patient care because now I truly understand the system and how to utilize it.
