In February 2025, the learning community webinar featured Jonathan Gabison, MD, MCT2D's Content Expert and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Interim Medical Director, Medical School.
Dr. Jonathan Gabison, MCT2D's Clinical Content Expert, discussed the ADA primary care updates for 2025, emphasizing the importance of screening for diabetes distress, utilizing diabetes self-management education and support, and mitigating the risk of metabolic associated steatotic liver disease. He also discussed the new updates to the algorithm for managing chronic kidney disease, the benefits of screening for peripheral arterial disease, and the updated standard of care for diabetes management. The discussion also covered the potential decrease in renal function when introducing SGLT2 inhibitors or GLP-1 agonists in patients with chronic kidney disease.
