Rina Hisamatsu, MPH, RDN

Registered Dietitian

Rina Hisamatsu, MPH, RDN, joined the Michigan Medicine team in June of 2021. Prior to this role, Rina has experience working with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program of Washtenaw County as a registered dietitian and subsequently a home-health agency providing diabetes care and management to the south side of Chicago. At Michigan Medicine, Rina provides nutrition care for Domino’s Farms Family Medicine and is involved in supporting the Integrative Family Medicine Program, Non-Pharma Pain Clinic and the Japanese Family Health Program. Rina was first involved in the low- and very low-carbohydrate approach through her role in two specialty clinics: The Weight Navigation Program (WNP) and the Michigan Interdisciplinary Clinic for Obesity and Reproduction (MICOR), whose focus is to help patients achieve metabolic health through weight loss, and a healthy pregnancy, respectively. Combining her passion for helping patients achieve health and wellness, together with experience counseling patients on the low-carbohydrate approach, Rina is excited to join the MCT2D initiative as a health educator to offer statewide support for providers and patients, lead virtual webinars and support groups, and develop tools and content to best meet the needs of the population.
