Low Carb in the Community: MCT2D goes BREADLESS

MCT2D has been cooking up a partnership with local Detroit eatery, Breadless—highlighting how low carb eating can fit into the grab-and-go lifestyle of many of our patient communities.
Breadless is a new small business sandwich shop, founded on the belief that "Everyone in every neighborhood should have access to healthy, low carb, and gluten-free meals." that offers low-carb wraps and bowls, packed with meats, plant based proteins, gourmet sauces, and tons of veggies.  MCT2D has been working directly with Breadless co-founder and Chief Product Officer Ryan Eli Salter to develop two new MCT2D-Branded meals, available to order now!

Wrapped in swiss chard, the BLT2D's got warm halal jerk chicken, pork bacon, havarti cheese, tomatoes, red onions, Arabic pickles, avocado spread, and truffle buttermilk ranch.
The BLT2D was named by MCT2D's Multimedia Design Project Manager, Larrea Young. Thanks Larrea!

You Take My Bread Away bowl

This vegetarian-friendly bowl features falafel, portobello mushrooms, black eyed peas, hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, braised dino kale and collar greens, all over (Rina's favorite) warm cauliflower rice.
The menu item was named by MCT2D's database manager Neha Bhomia. Thanks Neha!
The partnership was shepherded by MCT2D dietitian and health educator, Rina Hisamatsu, RDN, MPH. Rina has offered expertise in the development of a suite of low carb patient education tools, as part of the Low Carb Jumpstart program and tools available in the MCT2D Resource Library.
Ryan invited the MCT2D coordinating center and patient advisory board member Frankie, to join him at the restaurant to demonstrate how to make a Breadless sandwich.
