MCT2D Mobile App Available

August 12, 2025

MCT2D is thrilled to announce the launch of our first mobile app: the MCT2D App, now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. As this is our first release, we’re eager to hear your feedback and identify any bugs so we can continue improving the app with even more features in the next version. Please give the app a spin and send us your feedback at ccteam@MCT2D.org.

Here’s what you’ll find in the app:

Mobile Resource Library

A curated selection of the most-used MCT2D tools, ready to share via text or email, or bookmark for quick reference.

Securely send diabetes educational resources

Share popular point-of-care patient resources—like the What to Ask Your Insurance Company worksheet or Low Carb Jumpstart booklet—with patients by anonymous text or email.
Send securely and anonymously through the app. Shared resources will be sent via MCT2D one-way email or text message. MCT2D will never store patient or provider data.

Coverage Checker Lite

A mobile-friendly version of our coverage guide that lets you check coverage details, prior authorization requirements, and more — in seconds — for SGLT2i's, GLP-1 RA/GIPs, and CGMs.

About the MCT2D Mobile App

It all started in 2023 with a comment from a physician as they reviewed the MCT2D coverage guide, a multi-page document that provides an overview of medication and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) coverage for the 10 most common payors in Michigan.
“Paper-based tools are clunky and difficult to update… and going to a website in the middle of a patient appointment adds extra burden. I would suggest that the information be digested into an app. It would be easier to locate the information.” -Jeremy Fischer, DO, MCT2D Member since 2022
After that comment, MCT2D team members began hearing similar feedback from other participants in the collaborative—PO representatives mentioned an app in annual interviews, care managers raised the idea in survey responses, and our Patient Advisory Board expressed how they wished it was easier to access our tools on their phones. Our team took this to heart. In 2024, we hosted two focus groups with our participants to gain greater insights into their needs. With this feedback in hand, we held a week-long design sprint, bringing together clinician, designer, and developer skill sets to create an app that we hope will not only be a powerful tool for the collaborative, but also help improve care for patients with type 2 diabetes.
